“This piece came about after a huge burnout and creative block, following a 2-year stretch of putting together my Commodities collection. The collection was rather lacking in colour and excitement and by the time I’d finished it, I needed to let my creative juices flow again. I wanted the viewer to feel the movement and vibrancy of the rhinoceros’s natural environment, whilst using colours one wouldn’t naturally find in nature.” - Sophie Green

‘Rhinoceros Dichroma’ is a standalone piece, painted to capture the beauty of the African rhinoceros using a vibrant and colourful palette.

Deviating from her usual hyper-realistic style, Sophie uses a mixture of tight detail and looser strokes to depict movement surrounding the stillness of the subject. Painted using a palette of only 2 colours, ‘Rhinoceros Dichroma’ is an experimental, one-of-a-kind piece.
